Auroville itself is extremely interesting. A supposedly self-sustainable community; it is an interesting mix between Western and Eastern cultures. You can choose which food you would like to eat by choosing where you want to eat. You can choose how sustainably you would like to live, but a certain amount of cooperation is required for the society to function properly.
This microcosm is the perfect example of how diverse India is. You could spend an entire life here and never really understand all of its continuities and subcultures. I suppose that is what makes it so beautiful.
